Our Creatives

The colorful story of a family business started many years ago when Marcy van der Kieft’s mother opened a women’s clothing boutique in Darien, Connecticut. Her name was Margo Moore and her flair for bold colors and vibrant, stylish design continues to inspire generations later in beautiful Camden, Maine.

Megan van der Kieft, lead Designer, Allied A.S.I.D.

A true Camden native, Megan spent most of her childhood underfoot at her mother's store. After college, Megan started her retail and design career working with national retail brands, but was soon looking for a more personal design interaction. Based in Boston, she continued to build her design career working with clients along the East Coast. In 2008, Megan moved back to Maine permanently to assist in the day-to-day operations of her mother's business.

Megan enjoys traveling and is always searching for new vendors, inspiration and unique antique accessories to bring back to the store with the intention of adapting her finds to the homes of mid-coast Maine and beyond. Her personal travels take her abroad where she is influenced by old-world architecture and eclectic use of color to inspire her local clients interiors.

Megan’s design passions embrace the trends of today while adapting them to traditional values of design – creating timeless interiors with a fresh approach. Scale, color, and unique “finds” are quintessential interior accents to completing any decor.

Marcy van der Kieft, Founder

Born in New York City, Marcy Moore van der Kieft graduated from college with a degree in fabric merchandising. Her schooling launched her into a position as the associate fashion editor for Mademoiselle Magazine in New York City. Meanwhile in Darien, Connecticut, Marcy was also assisting in the management of a fine women’s clothing shop named after her mother and closest friend, Margo Moore.

In 1971 Marcy married and moved with her husband, Peter to Camden, Maine. Here, she reopened Margo Moore as a women’s clothing shop, adding a home accessory lines. Recognizing her creativity, talent and style, Marcy’s local clients began to look to her for help in interior design.

Marcy's design business continued to grow, so in the early 1980s, Margo Moore Interiors, a full-service decorating and home accessorizing studio, was established. Today Margo Moore Interiors is a full service design studio with inspiration for all types of styles. The first floor devotes 3,500 sq. ft. to retail space with high-end, unique home accessories.
